Kent Jager is part of the Music Ministry team at the historic St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  Continuing a long tradition of excellent sacred music at St. Paul, his work includes playing the organ and piano for services and conducting the St. Paul Ringers and St. Paul Singers.

Prior to St. Paul Kent was the Director of Music at Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Parish in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood.  At Queen of Angels he was the principal organist for all parish liturgies and directed a graded choir program of two children’s choir and two adult choirs.  Prior to Queen of Angels Kent was the Assistant Organist at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago and at First Presbyterian in Evanston, Illinois.

He completed his graduate studies in Church Music at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL where he studied with Grigg Fountain.  His undergraduate degree in organ is from Central College in Pella, IA where he was a student of Davis Folkerts.

Kent began his music studies at age 10 with Mrs. C. E. Baldwin who taught piano for many years in Eddyville, IA.  Upon her passing in 1973 he began studying with Marthana Newland, also in Eddyville. It was her steady guidance through his high school years that prepared him for college auditions and set him on the road to a career in church music.
